What is Nifty Weekly Expiry?

Nifty option contracts are scheduled to expire every Thursday. If the day is a trading holiday, the expiry is advanced to the previous working day. Settlement happens at the normal market closing time unless otherwise notified by the exchange.

The F&O ban is enforced by NSE when the aggregate open interest for a stock crosses 95% of the MWPL. This is intended to curb excessive speculation and maintain market stability.

Conclusion

With 9 stocks on the F&O ban list for June 19—including names like CDSL, Biocon, and HUDCO—traders should be cautious. High open interest in these counters reflects aggressive positioning ahead of expiry. Investors are advised to focus on risk management and monitor announcements from the exchange and SEBI for any further updates.
