A monthly SIP of ₹10,000 started in September 1994 in Franklin India Flexi Cap Fund would have grown into a corpus of around ₹17.49 crore by November 2025, according to data shared by the fund house. Over 31 years, the total investment would have been just ₹37.3 lakh.

Strong Performance Over Decades

The fund, which is close to completing 31 years, has built assets under management (AUM) of nearly ₹20,000 crore. It has consistently beaten its benchmark, the Nifty 500 TRI, across multiple time periods, including 2, 3, 5, 15 years and since inception.

Lump Sum Returns Also Impressive

A one-time investment of ₹10,000 at launch would have grown to nearly ₹17 lakh by November 2025. In comparison, the same amount invested in the benchmark would be worth only about ₹3 lakh.

Portfolio and Fund Strategy

The fund’s portfolio is led by banking stocks, which make up about 25% of its equity exposure. Other major sectors include IT software, telecom, construction and retail. The fund can invest across large, mid and small-cap stocks and follows a Growth at Reasonable Price (GARP) strategy.

Conclusion

This example shows how small, regular investments can compound into significant wealth over time. While past performance is encouraging, investors should always assess their risk appetite and investment horizon before investing in mutual funds.
