India’s newly introduced specialised investment funds (SIFs) saw sharp asset growth in December 2025, underlining rising investor appetite for alternative long-short strategies within the mutual fund framework.
By the end of December 2025, average assets under management of SIFs stood at ₹3,976 crore, up from ₹2,468 crore in November, marking a month-on-month growth of 61%.
After 3 months of operations, the segment now comprises 7 active strategies, including four hybrid long-short strategies and three equity long-short strategies.
Hybrid strategies accounted for the bulk of assets, with AUM of ₹3,037 crore, while equity strategies managed ₹939 crore.
During December, SIFs recorded net inflows of ₹1,933 crore. Hybrid strategies attracted ₹1,571 crore, while equity strategies saw inflows of ₹362 crore.
Within equity strategies, equity long-short funds garnered ₹334 crore, whereas the equity ex-top 100 strategy received ₹28 crore.
2 new schemes were launched during the month: ITI Diviniti Equity Long Short Fund and Tata Titanium Hybrid Long-Short Fund. These funds mobilised ₹119 crore and ₹228 crore, respectively.
Total mobilisation through new SIF launches rose sharply to ₹347 crore in December, reflecting a 227% increase from ₹106 crore raised in November 2025.
