Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) in mutual funds saw a record contribution of ₹29,529 crore in October 2025, reflecting growing retail investor confidence. At the same time, the SIP stoppage ratio improved slightly, indicating a healthier trend in long-term investment behaviour.

Record SIP Contributions and Falling Stoppage Ratio

October 2025 marked a historic peak for mutual fund SIPs with monthly contributions touching ₹29,529 crore, up from previous highs. The SIP stoppage ratio, which monitors discontinued SIPs relative to newly registered ones, saw an improvement as it fell to 74.85% from September's 76.27%. A total of 60.25 lakh new SIPs were registered in October, while 45.10 lakh were either discontinued or completed.

Rising SIP Accounts and AUM Growth

The total number of outstanding SIP accounts rose to 9,87,88,000 from 9,72,74,000 in September. Meanwhile, the number of contributing accounts stood at 9,45,20,000, underlining strong retail engagement. The assets under management (AUM) under SIPs climbed to ₹16,25,304.94 crore, making up 20.3% of the mutual fund industry’s total AUM.

Growth in Retail Participation and New Folios

Retail investors continued showing interest in mutual funds, as reflected by the addition of 40 lakh new folios during the month. Retail folios across equity, hybrid and solution-oriented schemes stood at 19,98,07,323, while retail AUM surged to ₹46,48,599 crore. October also recorded a 45% year-on-year jump in annualised SIP contributions, showing increasing discipline and faith among investors in long-term wealth-building tools.
