As per the ICRA Analytics, the mutual fund (MF) industry in India witnessed a notable 20% rise in Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) contributions over a one-year period ending August 2025.

Strong SIP Growth Reflects Investor Optimism

As per the ICRA Analytics, in August 2025, SIP contributions touched nearly ₹28,300 crore, up from ₹23,550 crore in August 2024. This increase of 20% highlights a consistent investor interest in wealth creation through disciplined investing. Contributing factors include favourable entry points due to past market corrections, optimism around India's economic reforms, and positive trends in corporate performance.

Mutual Fund Industry AUM Grows by 13%

The overall assets under management (AUM) of the Indian Mutual Fund industry also marked a 13% year-on-year growth. AUM rose from ₹66.70 lakh crore in August 2024 to ₹75.19 lakh crore in August 2025, showcasing healthy investor participation across asset classes, including equity, debt, and hybrid funds.

Equity and Debt Funds See Steady Inflows

Open-ended equity schemes witnessed a 10% yearly rise in AUM, climbing to ₹33.09 lakh crore from ₹30.09 lakh crore. These funds have now seen uninterrupted inflows for 54 consecutive months. Debt fund AUM grew from ₹16 lakh crore to ₹18.71 lakh crore, registering a strong 17% jump, further underlining asset diversification by investors.

Gold ETFs and Flexi Cap Funds Gain Traction

August 2025 recorded a dramatic 74% surge in gold ETF inflows over July 2025, taking the total to ₹2,190 crore, a 7-month high. Meanwhile, inflows into flexi capmid capsmall caparbitrage and multi-asset allocation funds also remained steady, signalling investors’ desire for exposure across varied fund categories.
