VinFast Launches VF6 and VF7 Electric SUVs in India: A New Challenge for Tata and Mahindra?

Vietnam-based electric vehicle (EV) company VinFast has officially entered the Indian market with the launch of its electric SUVs, VF6 and VF7. The models are priced very competitively, possibly challenging established Indian brands like Tata Motors and Mahindra in the growing EV segment.

VinFast is assembling both VF6 and VF7 at its Thoothukudi facility in Tamil Nadu, which has helped the company keep prices lower.

- Available in FWD (Front Wheel Drive) and AWD (All Wheel Drive)

Bookings and Launch Offers
Bookings for both models are now open with a refundable token amount of ₹21,000. Deliveries are expected to begin later this year. VinFast is also offering free charging and maintenance till 2028, making the deal more attractive.
Future Plans in India
The company’s future plans include:
- A production target of 50,000 units in phase one
- Expansion to 150,000 units in the second phase
- Plans to launch electric two-wheelers, commercial EVs, and even enter the hospitality sector
VinFast already has a network of 32 outlets in 27 cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. The company is also partnering with firms like RoadGrid, myTVS, Global Assure, and BatX Energies for services like charging, diagnostics, and battery recycling.
