Global cues suggest a weak opening for Indian markets on August 21, 2025. On Wednesday, the Nifty 50 closed at 25,050 (+70 points) and the Sensex at 81,858 (+213 points).

Key Stocks in Focus

Infosys

Infosys rewarded most employees with an average 80% performance bonus for Q1 FY26, higher than the previous quarter (75–89% range based on ratings).

Vedanta

Vedanta’s demerger plan hit a roadblock as the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas raised objections in the NCLT, questioning guarantees given to the government.

RailTel

RailTel secured new orders worth over ₹50 crore:

  • ₹34.99 crore from Kerala IT Mission
  • ₹15.42 crore from the Odisha Higher Education Department

UltraTech Cement

UltraTech will sell its 6.49% stake in India Cements (2.01 crore shares) via an Offer for Sale. The Aditya Birla Group company had acquired the stake in 2024.

Piramal Pharma

Its subsidiary, Piramal Healthcare Inc., invested $190.3 million (₹1,626.5 crore) in PPL Pharma Inc. by subscribing to preference shares.

Ajanta Pharma

The Income Tax Department conducted a search at offices and units on Aug 19. The company said it is cooperating with officials and sharing required details.

Clean Science and Technology

Promoters Ashok Boob and Krishna Boob are set to offload as much as 24% stake through block deals, aiming to raise around ₹2,626 crore at a floor price of ₹1,030 per share, which is about a 13% discount.

Exide Industries

Exide invested ₹100 crore in its subsidiary Exide Energy Solutions Ltd through a rights issue, taking its total investment in EESL to ₹3,802.23 crore.

Jupiter Wagons

Subsidiary Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory received an LOI to supply 5,376 wheelsets for the Vande Bharat train, worth about ₹215 crore.
