Renault Group is revising its India strategy with a target to expand its portfolio to 7 models by 2030, as per PTI reports. The company is also aiming for about 5% share in the passenger vehicle market, where competition has increased across price segments.
For the sub-₹10 lakh category, Renault is moving to a new Renault Group Entry Platform (RGEP). This replaces the earlier CMFA base used for models such as Kwid, Kiger, and Triber.
The updated platform is being developed to support factory-fitted CNG options, changes to powertrain configurations, and updated electronic systems.
Existing models, including Kiger and Triber, are expected to shift to this platform with upgrades in the coming months.
For vehicles above 4 metres, the company is using the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP). This architecture is to support models between 4.0 and 4.7 metres in length and will underpin 4 vehicles in India by 2030.
The Duster SUV is the first model based on this platform. Another model under development, the Bridger, is expected to follow as part of the same architecture.
The RGMP platform is being structured to support different types of powertrains, including internal combustion engines, hybrid systems and electric vehicles. The company is planning to introduce these options in phases rather than shifting to a single technology.
The rollout under its E-Tech programme is expected to begin from 2026. The Bridger is likely to be introduced with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, followed by an electric version later.
India is also being positioned as a development base within Renault’s global operations. The local engineering centre is to contribute to software work, product updates and lifecycle management.

The strategy combines separate platforms for entry-level and larger vehicles, along with a phased expansion of powertrain options across the portfolio.
