Blinkit has introduced the Bharat Yatra national common mobility card (NCMC) on its platform, expanding into public transport-related services. The card is priced at ₹50 and is delivered via Blinkit’s quick commerce network.
As per news reports, the company said the card is intended to simplify access to metro and bus services across multiple cities using a single payment instrument.
The Bharat Yatra Card is based on India’s NCMC framework and is powered by RuPay. It is issued in partnership with Pine Labs and is available as a zero-KYC product at the time of purchase. Users can load funds through UPI and use the card without visiting physical recharge counters.
The card can be linked through the Bharat Yatra mobile application, has a validity of 5 years, and a wallet limit of ₹2,000.
The card is designed for use across NCMC-enabled systems, allowing commuters to use one card across participating cities.
It currently works on metro networks in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Ahmedabad, and on bus services in Mumbai and Chennai. The interoperable model reduces the need for city-specific transit cards.
Blinkit has started delivering the card in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai and Ahmedabad. Timelines for expansion to additional cities have not been disclosed.
While distribution is currently limited, the card is compatible with NCMC-enabled networks nationwide, subject to local integration by transport authorities. The Bharat Yatra Card is also available on Flipkart.
Blinkit’s role is focused on distribution rather than fare processing or payments infrastructure. The launch aligns with ongoing efforts to standardise digital mobility payments and operates alongside UPI-based ticketing systems used by transit operators.
