Tata AIG General Insurance has stopped offering cashless claim facilities at Max Hospitals starting September 10,2025. This development follows similar action by Star Health, Niva Bupa, and CARE Health in recent months. Policyholders are being assured of rapid reimbursement processing despite the suspension.
Effective September 10, 2025, Tata AIG policyholders can no longer avail themselves of cashless treatment at Max Hospitals. The insurer became the 4th after Star Health, Niva Bupa, and CARE Health to take this step. Max Hospitals alleges that Tata AIG demanded rate cuts despite a valid agreement running until January 15, 2027. The disagreement led to the insurer halting the cashless service after the hospital declined the revised tariffs.
A spokesperson from Max Hospitals stated that a two-year tariff deal was signed with Tata AIG on January 16, 2025. However, Tata AIG sought fresh negotiations in July, proposing additional rate cuts and threatening to withdraw the cashless service. With Max refusing the changes, Tata AIG ceased the service within 2 months.
Earlier, both Star Health and Niva Bupa pulled out of cashless services from all 22 Max Hospitals across India. CARE Health’s suspension is currently applicable only in Delhi NCR facilities. These insurers also cited tariff disagreements. Max contends that tariffs pegged at 2022 levels are not viable without risking patient safety.

Tata AIG has deployed a fast-tracked claims process to support policyholders during this period. Dedicated service teams are monitoring every case to ensure hassle-free reimbursements. A helpdesk has been established at Max Hospitals to guide customers on filing claims without upfront payments. Although no formal talks are ongoing, sources suggest a possible resolution in the coming days.
With Tata AIG suspending its cashless facility from September 10,2025, Max Hospitals has now seen 4 major insurers exit such agreements due to tariff conflicts. Insurance firms continue to assure smooth reimbursements, but customers are advised to stay informed as discussions for revised terms continue behind the scenes.
