Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is trading below its IPO issue price as the market gauges the impact of GST 2.0 reforms. The company’s share price has seen modest short-term fluctuations while holding near its debut valuation band.

On October 3, 2025, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) was below its final issue price of  ₹949. LIC share price touched an all-time high of ₹1,222 on NSE in August last year. Thereafter, the stock witnessed a correction, and lately, it is back in the news after the GST 2.0 reforms. 

LIC’s Position After GST Reforms 

The GST 2.0 reforms have brought renewed attention to insurance companies, with expectations of policy and tax framework adjustments that may influence sectoral growth. For LIC, this environment could impact premium collections, product demand, and long-term profitability. Profit Growth, VNB Margin Expansion, and Solid APE in Q1 FY26

LIC reported a standalone net profit of ₹10,986 crore in Q1 FY26, marking a 4–5% year-on-year rise. Net premium income came in at ₹1,19,000–₹1,20,000 crore, also up 4–5% YoY. The insurer’s Annualised Premium Equivalent (APE) rose to ₹12,652 crore, an increase of nearly 10% YoY, while VNB jumped to ₹1,944 crore. Notably, the VNB margin expanded to 15.4%, reflecting a stronger product mix with rising non-par business share.

LIC’s Superannuation of SMPs

LIC notified superannuation, effective September 30, 2025, of Shri Sudhakar Ravindranath (Executive Director, Marketing/Product Development) and Shri Shrawan Kumar (Zonal Manager in‑charge, Patna), under SEBI LODR Reg. 30; intimation filed under scrip LICI (543526).

Life Insurance Corporation of India Share Price Performance

On October 3, 2025, LIC share price opened at ₹904.10 on NSE, which was the same as its previous close of ₹904.10. During trading hours, the stock touched a high of ₹912.80 and a low of ₹900.70. As of 2:09 PM, the stock is valued at ₹902.00, registering a marginal decline of -0.23% for the day.

In terms of recent performance, LIC gained 3.39% over the past week and 2.72% over the past month, while it witnessed a decline of 3.39% over the past 3 months. The stock is now once again hovering close to its IPO range.

Conclusion
