KP Group, along with South Korea’s AHES Co. Ltd. and India’s GH2 Solar Ltd., has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a green ammonia production plant in India, as per the reports. The facility will have a capacity of 100,000 metric tons per annum (TPA).
The project will be executed by KPI Green Hydrogen & Ammonia Pvt. Ltd. (KPI GH), a KP Group company. AHES and GH2 Solar will support the development with technical inputs and strategic arrangements for long-term offtake of green ammonia. AHES will also serve as one of the direct buyers.
The plant’s output will be targeted for export markets, including South Korea, Japan, and other international destinations. Pricing will be linked to global ammonia benchmarks, ensuring parity with prevailing international standards.
KP Group plans to integrate renewable energy and infrastructure solutions from its existing entities, such as KPI Green Energy, KP Energy, and KP Green Engineering. This will provide the project with low-carbon feedstock for ammonia production. The group currently has 1.9 GW of installed renewable capacity and another 3.9 GW under development.
AHES specialises in hydrogen electrolysers, compressed hydrogen storage, and Power-to-Gas systems. GH2 Solar focuses on solar infrastructure, electrolyser production, and green hydrogen projects in India. Both will contribute market access and implementation support to the project.
