Juniper Green Energy has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for setting up a 50-megawatt (MW) wind project in Gujarat, as per PTI. The agreement was signed on November 7 and will be valid for 25 years.
The project will be executed through Juniper Green Energy’s subsidiary, Juniper Green BESS Delta. It involves the development of a wind power facility in Gujarat, which will supply electricity to GUVNL once operational. Power delivery under the agreement is scheduled to begin on November 6, 2027.
The project is currently in the development stage. Construction and commissioning work are expected to take place over the next two years, leading up to the scheduled date of power supply. Once completed, the project will feed 50 MW of electricity into the state grid under the PPA terms.
The 25-year PPA defines the terms for power supply and tariff between Juniper Green Energy and GUVNL. Such agreements are typically used by state utilities to ensure steady and long-term access to renewable energy from private producers.
GUVNL manages electricity distribution and procurement for Gujarat. It regularly signs PPAs with private energy developers through competitive bidding. The utility’s renewable portfolio includes several wind and solar projects across the state.
Gujarat continues to add capacity in renewable energy through wind and solar projects. The state has one of the highest installed capacities in the country and is a major destination for renewable energy investments.
