ICICI Prudential Life Shares Gain ~2%: Saw Moderate Growth in September Premiums, Net Profit Up 34% in Q2 FY26

On October 10, 2025, ICICI Prudential Life shares rose ~2%, reaching a day high of ₹602.80 at 09:55 AM, after opening at ₹590.15 on BSE. The gain in ICICI Prudential Life shares follow the release of the Q2FY26 business update, which the company released on October 9, 2025.

ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company reported a 6.1% year-on-year (YoY) increase in its new business premium for September 2025, reaching ₹1,761 crore, as per its latest monthly business update. However, on a sequential basis, this figure was marginally lower than the ₹1,776 crore recorded in August.

The company’s Annualised Premium Equivalent (APE), a crucial indicator of new business performance, stood at ₹871 crore in September, reflecting a 1.1% decline compared to the same month last year. Despite the annual dip, the metric showed improvement over August’s APE of ₹722 crore.

ICICI Prudential also reported a 12.5% YoY increase in its new business sum assured, which rose to ₹1,098 crore.

ICICI Prudential Life 1HFY26 Business Update

For the first half of FY2026, total new business premiums amounted to ₹9,456 crore, marking an 8.7% growth over the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year.

In terms of profitability, the insurer posted a 34% YoY rise in net profit for the quarter ended June 30, with net earnings climbing to ₹302.08 crore from ₹225.4 crore a year earlier. However, total APE for the quarter declined 5% YoY, falling to ₹1,864 crore from ₹1,963 crore.
