India’s EV two-wheeler retail registrations in August 2025 were about 1.03–1.04 lakh units. TVS Motor Company maintained its lead, while Ola Electric regained its 2nd position, surpassing Bajaj Auto. Ather Energy continued to close the sales gap amid aggressive competition in the EV space as per VAHAN-sourced reports.
TVS Motor Company remains the leader in the EV two-wheeler market, reporting sales of 24,087 units in August 2025, according to VAHAN data. This performance marks a 37% year-on-year growth, largely driven by the expanding reception of its iQube e-scooter range. The result comes as a reinforcement of TVS’ long-term strategy in the electric segment.
Bengaluru-based Ola Electric sold 18,972 units in August, overtaking Bajaj Auto to climb back to the 2nd position. However, this figure reflects a 31% drop compared to the same month in the previous year. The decline comes amid slowing demand across some segments, although Ola continues to push forward with new launches and localisation strategies.
Ather Energy, recently listed, clocked 17,856 units, reflecting a strong 65% increase year-on-year. Its new EL vehicle platform and tech-driven innovations have supported its rise, with consumers showing increased interest in its premium e-scooters. Ather is now narrowing the lead over Ola and could soon challenge the number 2 spot.
Hero MotoCorp recorded its best performance to date, selling 13,313 scooters in August, a 180% surge from the previous year. With these figures, Hero surpassed Bajaj Auto in EV sales for the first time, signalling a successful entry into the electric space.
Bajaj Auto’s EV sales declined to 11,730 units, a 30% YoY fall. Once considered a key player with its Chetak EVs, Bajaj now trails behind Hero, Ather, and Ola, as rivals continue to expand their product portfolios and market outreach.
India’s EV two-wheeler retail registrations in August 2025 were about 1.03-1.04 lakh units. TVS leads with consistent growth, Ola regains ground, and Ather accelerates quickly. Hero’s rapid ascent and Bajaj’s decline underscore the dynamic nature of this fast-evolving sector.
