Coca-Cola is considering an initial public offering (IPO) for its Indian bottling unit, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), with the aim of raising around $1 billion, according to news reports from Bloomberg.
The proposed listing, which could value HCCB near $10 billion, aligns with Coca-Cola’s strategic push to expand and refranchise its India operations. Talks are still in the exploratory phase, with no official bank appointments yet.
The potential IPO would involve raising approximately $1 billion in equity, implying a total enterprise valuation of nearly $10 billion for HCCB. While the exact structuring, including the mix between primary and secondary shares, is undecided, this move could be a major capital market event in India’s FMCG and beverage sector. No final timeline has been set, though the listing could happen as early as next year.
This IPO consideration comes on the back of Coca-Cola’s ongoing refranchising drive in India. In 2024, HCCB transferred operations in parts of North and East India to local partners. This reflects Coca-Cola’s global shift toward an asset-light model, where bottling and distribution are increasingly delegated to regional players.
India remains a critical growth market for Coca-Cola. The country’s beverage consumption continues to grow, driven by under-penetration and strong demand. HCCB, along with two other bottlers, has committed ₹25,760 crore in investments to expand food processing infrastructure across 9 states, supporting long-term growth in capacity and supply chain efficiency.

Ownership structures around HCCB are also evolving. In 2025, India’s competition authority approved a 40% stake acquisition in Coca-Cola’s local holding company by Jubilant Beverages, aligning with Coca-Cola’s broader partnership model. Additionally, the Bhartia family’s involvement continues to shape strategic discussions, although no formal confirmation on IPO structuring has been released.
If executed, HCCB’s IPO could become one of the most significant listings in India’s consumer space. It would mark a major step in Coca-Cola’s India roadmap, aligning capital raising with operational decentralisation and long-term market investment.
