Bharat Coking Coal Business Overview

Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), incorporated in 1972, is a leading producer of coking coal, non-coking coal, and washed coal. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Coal India Limited.

As of September 30, 2025, BCCL operates 34 mines across India, comprising 4 underground, 26 opencast, and 4 mixed mines. Its primary product, coking coal, serves the steel and power industries, with estimated reserves of around 7,910 million tonnes as of April 1, 2024. In Fiscal 2025, BCCL contributed 58.5% of India’s total domestic coking coal production.

The company’s operations span Jharia in Jharkhand and Raniganj in West Bengal, covering a total leasehold area of 288.31 sq km.
