ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, as per their recent announcement, is to resume subscriptions in three of its international schemes starting July 17, 2025. These funds include the ICICI Prudential US Bluechip Equity Fund, ICICI Prudential Nasdaq 100 Index Fund, and the ICICI Prudential Strategic Metal and Energy Equity Fund of Fund (FoF).
Investors can now make lump sum investments, switch-ins, and register new SIPs or STPs under these funds. The reopening comes after a suspension period that began in February 2022, when mutual funds were directed to pause new overseas investments due to SEBI-imposed limits.
The halt in fresh investments was linked to the overall industry cap on foreign investments set by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). These restrictions affected all mutual fund houses once the collective overseas investment limit was reached.
Although SEBI later permitted mutual funds to invest if they had room left under the cap, full-scale subscriptions remained restricted. ICICI Prudential had briefly allowed inflows on earlier occasions to utilise the available headroom, but closed them again once limits were approached.
With the current move, the asset management company has removed all temporary halts for the three international funds. Fresh inflows through various investment routes will be accepted until further notice, subject to regulatory limits.
