As of 10:15 AM IST on Monday, gold and silver prices showed declines across major cities, with gold in Thiruvananthapuram trading at ₹154,770 per 10 grams, down ₹1,940 or 1.24%, while silver stood at ₹237,830 per kg, lower by ₹8,530 or 3.46%.
In Chennai, gold prices were at ₹154,750 per 10 grams, also down ₹1,940 or 1.24%, and silver traded at ₹237,800 per kg, declining ₹8,520 or 3.46%.
Meanwhile, in Hyderabad, gold prices slipped to ₹154,540 per 10 grams, a fall of ₹1,950 or 1.25%, while silver was quoted at ₹237,480 per kg, down ₹8,520 or 3.46%.
Gold futures for the April 2, 2026 expiry opened at ₹154,999 per 10 grams and moved between a low of ₹154,187 and a high of ₹155,100 during the session, with the last traded price at ₹154,421, marking a decline of ₹1,474 or 0.95% compared to the previous close of ₹155,895.
Meanwhile, silver futures for the March 5, 2026 expiry opened at ₹238,489 per kg, touched a low of ₹235,208 and a high of ₹238,489, and were last traded at ₹237,225, reflecting a drop of ₹7,135 or 2.92% from the previous close of ₹244,360, indicating continued weakness in precious metal futures trading.
Overall, gold and silver prices remain under pressure amid weak sentiment in both spot and futures markets. Investors may closely watch global cues and currency movements for the next direction in precious metal prices.
