The top Sensex gainers were Ultratech Cements Ltd, ITC Ltd and JSW Steel Ltd whereas the top Sensex losers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, Sun Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Larsen & Toubro Ltd.
The indices in the broader markets were trading higher, with the BSE Mid-cap index up 0.13% and the BSE Small-cap index up 0.34%, respectively. The top mid-cap gainers were General Insurance Corporation of India and Yes Bank while the top small-cap gainers were Mishtann Foods Ltd and Sonata Software Ltd.
The BSE Commodities Index was the top gaining among the sectorial indices and the BSE Oil & Gas Index was the top losing sector. The BSE Commodities Index soared 0.65% led by Gujarat Fluorochemicals Ltd and Sree Rayalaseema Hi-Strength Hypo Ltd while the BSE Oil & Gas Index was down 1.2% dragged down by Gail (India) Ltd and Adani Total Gas Ltd.
