Sensex and Nifty close near the day’s highs; PSU banks decline for the fourth day in a row 

Following a tumultuous session on Wednesday, the domestic equities barometers closed close to the day’s high. Shares of PSU banks, metals and IT fell, while those of auto, oil & gas and FMCG rose. The S&P BSE Sensex, the barometer index, rose 178.87 points or 0.29%, to 61,940.20. To 18,315.10, the Nifty 50 index rose 49.15 points or 0.27%.

Manorama Industries: Manorama Industries Ltd’s board of directors has approved and recommended a final dividend of Rs. 2/- per equity share of Rs. 10 each (20%) for the fiscal year 2022-23. The stock had an intraday high of Rs. 1102.10 and a low of Rs. 1070.50.  

Shipping Corporation of India: Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) jumped by 5.26%. In Q4 March 2023, the company’s consolidated net profit increased by 156.38% to Rs 379.91 crore, an 8.35% increase in net sales to Rs 1418.14 crore compared to Q4 March 2022.  

Eveready Industries: This company’s stock increased by 4.59%. In Q4 FY23, the company recorded a net loss of Rs 21.9 crore, compared to a net loss of Rs 38.4 crore in Q4 FY22. Total income increased to Rs 286.2 crore in the quarter ended March 31, 2023, up from Rs 241.2 crore in the same quarter last year.   

Shemaroo Entertainment: Following strong Q4 earnings, the company’s shares remained stuck in the upper circuit of 10% to Rs 129.70 per share on the BSE on Wednesday. The media company reported a total income of Rs. 164.7 crore in the March quarter of FY23, up from Rs. 150.4 crore in the previous fiscal’s December quarter.  

Anupam Rasayan: The business informed the exchange that it has extended a long-term deal worth Rs 436 crore with a renowned German multinational for the supply of patented life science specialty chemicals on an exclusive basis for the next three years.
