The Indian stock market declined for the second straight session on Friday, July 18, as investors reduced equity exposure amid lackluster earnings, high valuations, and ongoing tariff concerns. The Sensex fell 502 points (0.61%) to close at 81,757.73, while the Nifty 50 dropped 143 points (0.57%) to 24,968.40.
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices also fell by 0.62% and 0.64%, respectively. Market capitalisation on the BSE slipped from nearly ₹461 lakh crore to over ₹458 lakh crore, wiping out about ₹3 lakh crore in investor wealth in just one session.
