Tata Group Announces ₹1 Crore Compensation for Families of Air Indian Plane Crash Victims

In the wake of the devastating crash of Air India Flight AI171 near Ahmedabad airport on June 12, Tata Group — the parent company of Air India — has announced a compensation of ₹1 crore for the families of each passenger who lost their life in the tragedy. The London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed shortly after take-off, leaving the nation in mourning.

In a statement posted on social media, Tata Group said: “We are deeply anguished by the tragic event involving Air India Flight 171. No words can adequately express the grief we feel at this moment. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones, and with those who have been injured.”

“We remain steadfast in standing with the affected families and communities during this unimaginable time,” the statement added.

Support for the Injured and Community Rebuilding

Beyond the financial aid for bereaved families, Tata Group has also committed to:

  • Covering all medical expenses for the injured
  • Ensuring that necessary medical care and support are provided
  • Rebuilding the damaged hostel at B J Medical College, located near the crash site

Air India’s Relief Measures for Families

To aid the families and loved ones of those onboard, Air India has initiated:

  • Special Relief Flights from Delhi and Mumbai.
  • Logistical Support for those travelling to Ahmedabad.

Ongoing Investigation and Emergency Response

The authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, as emergency teams and airline officials coordinate a broader relief and recovery effort. The Tata Group and Air India have pledged full cooperation with investigating agencies while maintaining focus on humanitarian support during this difficult time.
