
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has added a grid-scale energy storage project to its portfolio after emerging as the successful bidder for a standalone battery energy storage system in Andhra Pradesh.
Under the award, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited will establish a standalone battery energy storage system with a capacity of 150 MW/300 MWh.
The project will be set up at the 400/220 kV Kalikiri sub-station in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, and is designed for on-demand usage to support grid operations in the state.
The project forms part of a larger programme aimed at developing cumulative battery storage capacity of 2,000 MWh across selected substations.
The battery energy storage system will be implemented under a build-own-operate model. The Letter of Award for the project was received on December 29, 2025.
The facility will be developed at the Kalikiri site, strengthening energy storage infrastructure linked to the state transmission network.

As of December 31, 2025, at 11:50 AM, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited share price is trading at ₹264.95 per share, reflecting a gain of 1.77% from the previous closing price.
With the 150 MW/300 MWh battery energy storage project at Kalikiri, PowerGrid continues to expand its presence in grid-scale energy storage, supporting the integration of flexible power solutions within India’s transmission network.
