HDFC Bank Downtime on January 10: 4-Hour Service Disruption for NetBanking, App, UPI Payments and Transfers

HDFC Bank has scheduled a 4-hour system maintenance window on January 10, 2026, which will impact various digital services including NetBanking, mobile app, UPI and online fund transfers.
Customers have been informed in advance via email by the bank.
Digital Services Downtime to Begin at 2:30 AM
According to an official communication, HDFC Bank will carry out essential system maintenance from 2:30 AM to 6:30 AM IST on January 10, 2026.
During this 4-hour period, access to several key banking services will be impacted. Services through HDFC Bank's NetBanking portal and mobile app will be temporarily unavailable.
This includes the ability to view account balances, perform fund transfers (NEFT, IMPS, RTGS and UPI), and carry out intra-bank transfers or online bill payments.
PayZapp Wallet Remains Functional
As part of its service continuity arrangements, the bank has clarified that customers will still be able to use the PayZapp wallet for transactions during the scheduled maintenance window.
The wallet enables users to make payments and transfers using stored balances, offering limited but functional access to digital banking.
Integration of Digital Rupee with SmartGateway
In another update, HDFC Bank has announced the integration of the Reserve Bank of India’s Central Bank Digital Currency (Digital Rupee) with its online merchant payment platform, SmartGateway.
This enables merchants to accept payments in Digital Rupee alongside existing payment options such as UPI, debit or credit cards, and net banking.
The integration offers customers a sovereign-backed, secure payment option without additional transaction costs.

Benefits for Merchants and Customers
With this integration, merchants can provide an alternative and cost-free digital payment mode within the HDFC Bank checkout ecosystem.
For customers, it offers a secure and real-time payment experience using the Digital Rupee, accessible via supported channels during online purchases.
HDFC Bank Share Price Performance
As of January 09, 2026, at 2:57 PM, HDFC Bank share price on NSE was trading at ₹936.20 down by 1.11% from the previous closing price.
Conclusion
HDFC Bank's system maintenance on January 10 will lead to temporary unavailability of several digital banking services. The bank has ensured partial continuity by keeping PayZapp active. Meanwhile, the introduction of the Digital Rupee on SmartGateway adds to its digital payment offerings.
