Star Health and Allied Insurance Company has launched 3 new variants – Essential, Preferred, and Secure, under its Super Star health insurance plan through a multi-rider add-on called Star Flexi. Each variant has been structured to cater to specific customer needs across different geographies and segments.
The Essential variant is intended for first-time policy buyers in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. It offers a starting sum insured of ₹5 lakh and includes benefits such as single private room hospitalisation, day care procedures, AYUSH treatment, unlimited restoration of sum insured, and optional add-ons like home care and preventive check-ups.
The Preferred variant is targeted at urban families and professionals. It comes with no room rent cap, air ambulance cover up to ₹5 lakh, and additional features such as a Health Booster benefit (which increases the base sum insured after 7 claim-free years), Premium Return (refund of the first-year premium after 5 claim-free years), and services like home nursing and dental cleaning.
The Secure variant is meant for experienced policyholders seeking wider coverage. It includes unlimited sum insured restoration, no cap on room rent, ₹5 lakh air ambulance cover, and a Limitless Loyalty Bonus that adds 100% of the sum insured at each renewal, regardless of past claims. This variant also includes access to the STAR Wellness Program.
Since its initial rollout, the Super Star plan has recorded over 1.6 lakh policy sales and generated ₹580 crore in premium revenue within 7 months. The insurer operates with a network of over 14,000 hospitals, over 7.75 lakh licensed agents, and 913 offices across India. For FY25, Star Health reported a gross written premium of ₹17,553 crore and a net worth of ₹8,668 crore.
