Think back to the last time you logged into your Angel One app.
You were ready to act, but an OTP stood between you and your trade.
Those few extra seconds can feel like a lifetime, don’t they?
At Angel One, security has always come first. That’s why we used OTPs during key moments in your trading journey, like your first login after installing the app or when your session timed to verify it was you, and not someone else, accessing the account.
Now, with SIM Binding, we’ve introduced a different way to log in, one that works in the background and helps maintain the balance between access and security.
Because when it comes to your money, we’ve never taken shortcuts.
A new login method, now available on Angel One.
What if logging in didn’t mean pausing? What if your phone could verify your identity quietly, without codes to type, messages to wait for, or the risk of someone misusing it?
That’s what SIM Binding enables.
It checks just one thing: whether the SIM card in your phone matches the mobile number registered to your Angel One account.
If it matches, you’re in. No OTP, no additional steps.
You can think of it like fingerprint verification, but using your SIM instead. It works quietly, stays out of your way, and supports how mobile-first trading works today.
OTPs weren’t perfect. But for a long time, they were the most practical choice.
We used them selectively:
Still, OTPs have well-known issues:
Poor network coverage can leave you locked out. We didn’t want these factors to affect your ability to access your account securely. That’s why we explored alternatives and arrived at SIM Binding.
SIM Binding changes how verification happens.
Here’s what’s different when you use it:
This login method is also aligned with SEBI’s evolving guidelines on device-based authentication.
If your phone runs Android 13 or above, just log in to your Angel One app.
You’ll be prompted to allow SIM verification.
Once permission is granted, you’ll be able to use SIM Binding for future logins.
Still on an older Android version or using a device that doesn’t support this feature?
You’ll continue receiving OTPs as before.
Everyone stays supportedno one is left out.
We believe that’s how technology should work: it should offer newer ways without removing existing ones.
At Angel One, our decisions are based on intent and long-term thinking.
We didn’t continue OTPs because we lacked optionswe did it because your security mattered.
And now, we’re introducing SIM Binding not just because it’s new, but because it reduces risk in ways OTPs couldn’t.
It’s better aligned with today’s mobile devices.
It removes common points of failure.
It reduces dependency on network quality.
We’re not just following trendswe’re building around what real trading experiences demand.
So go ahead. Log in. Stay focused on the markets.
With SIM Binding, verification becomes less visible, but still very much present.
