State Bank of India (SBI) has announced that it will stop the mCASH sending and claiming facility on OnlineSBI and YONO Lite from 30 November 2025. Customers are advised to shift to other digital payment modes such as UPI, IMPS, NEFT, and RTGS for sending money to third-party beneficiaries.

What Was SBI mCASH?

SBI mCASH allowed customers to send money without adding a beneficiary. Users only needed the recipient’s mobile number or email ID. The receiver would get a link through SMS or email and could claim the funds using an 8-digit passcode. A bank account was required to receive the money, but it did not have to be an SBI account.

This feature offered a quick way to send money without entering full bank details. However, with the growth of more modern and secure digital payment systems, SBI has decided to discontinue this service.

Alternative Ways to Transfer Money

With mCASH ending, customers can continue making payments through four widely used digital transfer options.

Unified Payments Interface (UPI)

UPI is the fastest and most convenient method for money transfers. You can use apps such as Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, or SBI YONO. Transfers happen instantly, 24×7. Payments can be made using a UPI ID, mobile number, or QR code. Most UPI transactions do not carry any fee.

Immediate Payment Service (IMPS)

IMPS is another real-time payment method available round the clock. You can transfer funds using the recipient’s account number and IFSC code. Some banks may charge a small fee, but the transfer is completed instantly.

National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT)

NEFT is suitable for routine or scheduled transfers. It works 24×7 and requires the beneficiary’s account number and IFSC code. Many banks offer NEFT at no extra cost.

Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS)

RTGS is used for high-value payments. Transfers are processed in real time, and online RTGS is generally free. You need the beneficiary’s bank account number and IFSC code.

Conclusion

With mCASH being withdrawn after 30 November 2025, SBI customers can continue transferring money through UPI, IMPS, NEFT, and RTGS. These methods are faster, safer, and widely used across India. Ensuring you are familiar with these options will help you make smooth and secure digital payments going forward.
