Tesla India has begun deliveries of the Model Y, marking a new milestone for the company just 2 months after its introduction in July 2025, as per the news reports. The move, described by the automaker as a breakthrough for both electric vehicle ownership and sustainable development in India, reflects Tesla’s determination to establish a strong presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing EV markets.
As per the news reports, Tesla emphasised the significance of the moment, noting, “This marks a significant step forward and creates a new chapter in electric vehicle ownership and sustainable development in India.”
As part of the launch, new customers are being offered a complimentary wall connector, which can be installed in their parking areas to provide convenient access to home charging facilities. This addition is designed to remove a key barrier to adoption by making charging simpler and more accessible.
The redesigned Model Y, already recognised as the world’s best-selling electric car in both 2023 and 2024, has been introduced to Indian buyers in two trims. The standard rear-wheel drive variant offers a driving range of 500 km under the WLTP cycle, while the long-range rear-wheel drive model provides an extended 622 km range. Tesla has confirmed that deliveries for the long-range variant will follow shortly, further expanding customer choice.
The company has also established its first points of physical presence in the country to accompany the deliveries. Tesla opened its first experience centre in Mumbai in July, followed by a second outlet at Delhi’s Aerocity in August.
These centres provide prospective buyers with an opportunity to engage directly with the brand and its products, supporting its entry into the premium electric mobility space in India.
