Heavy floods in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab have left several families grappling with both loss and financial uncertainty. To support its policyholders during this crisis, SBI Life Insurance has rolled out special measures aimed at speeding up claim settlements. The insurer has simplified its documentation requirements and set up on-ground support systems to ensure that affected families can access timely financial relief.
In a statement on Friday, SBI Life Insurance said it has relaxed the paperwork needed for death claims from flood-hit regions. To ease the burden on families, the insurer will not rely solely on a death certificate as proof. Instead, claimants can submit official government records, municipal register entries, e-governance portal data, or other authorised government database records.
To further simplify the process, only three basic documents are now required: a claim form, the original policy document, and the claimant’s KYC with bank account details. However, the insurer noted that in some cases, especially where policies involve high cover amounts, it may still request additional documentation.
To make assistance more accessible, SBI Life has appointed nodal officers across key districts such as Jammu, Srinagar, Dharamshala, Shimla, Patiala, Amritsar, and Ludhiana. These officers will serve as direct points of contact for affected families.
Policyholders can also connect with the company via multiple channels, including the dedicated email claims.assistance@sbilife.co.in, the 24x7 toll-free helpline 1800 267 9090, or by visiting the nearest SBI Life branch.

By cutting down on documentation requirements and establishing support at the district level, SBI Life aims to provide timely relief to flood-hit families. The company reaffirmed its commitment to stand with affected communities and encouraged claimants to initiate the process at the earliest for smooth settlements.
