India’s largest iron ore producer, NMDC, reported solid growth in August 2025. Sales climbed to 3.39 million tonnes (MT) in August 2025, up from 3.14 MT a year earlier, while production grew to 3.37 MT compared to 3.07 MT in August 2024.
For April–August 2025, sales reached 18.37 MT (vs. 16.27 MT last year), and production rose to 18.45 MT (vs. 14.43 MT last year), highlighting steady momentum.
In 1QFY26, volumes were impacted by the early monsoon, but price hikes helped NMDC maintain healthy profits.
Iron ore output stood at 12 MT, marking a 31% YoY rise but a 10% QoQ decline. Sales reached 11.5 MT, up 14% YoY though down 9% QoQ, while ASP rose to ₹5,851/tonne, up 9% YoY and 6% QoQ
NMDC remains well-capitalised with ₹63 billion net cash (FY25) and is projected to generate ₹190 billion operating cash flow over the next 2 years. This will fund expansion without overleveraging.
