As of the June 2025 quarter, over 4,00,000 small retail shareholders, each holding authorised share capital of up to ₹2,00,000, collectively owned a 6.51% stake in HDFC AMC. This potential bonus issue is seen as a significant gesture towards these investors, who have long supported the company.

Even though this potential bonus share issuance is a first, HDFC AMC has consistently returned value to its shareholders through dividends. Since 2019, it has distributed cumulative dividends worth ₹336 per share, including ₹90 per share paid in June 2025. As of June end, promoters held a 52.4% stake in the company.
