Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) reported its financial results for the first quarter of the financial year 2025-26, showcasing a largely flat revenue line but a decline in profitability.
The company posted revenue from operations of ₹5,487 crore in Q1 FY26, almost unchanged from ₹5,485 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
However, earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) dropped sharply, recording a negative ₹352 crore as compared to negative ₹59 crore in Q1 FY25. This sharp decline in operational efficiency has translated into deeper losses.
Profit Before Tax (PBT) widened to ₹607 crore from ₹280 crore a year ago, while Profit After Tax (PAT) also saw a steep fall to ₹455 crore from ₹213 crore.
Despite the financial setback, BHEL’s order pipeline remains strong. The company reported an order inflow of ₹13,445 crore in Q1 FY26, with 57% of the orders coming from the power segment (₹7,620 crore) and the remaining 43% (₹5,825 crore) from industry including exports.
As of June 30, 2025, the order book stood at a robust ₹2,04,375 crore. Of this, the power sector continues to dominate with ₹1,61,686 crore, accounting for 79% of total outstanding orders, while industry including exports contributed ₹42,689 crore or 21%.
On August 7, 2025, BHEL share price (NSE: BHEL) opened at ₹231.85, down from its previous close of ₹239.83. At 10:23 AM, the share price of BHEL was trading at ₹225.37, down by 6.03% on the NSE.

BHEL’s Q1 FY26 performance reveals operational challenges despite a healthy order book. The stagnant revenue and mounting losses underline the urgency for operational restructuring. Nevertheless, the significant inflow and outstanding order pipeline indicate long-term growth visibility if execution and margins improve in subsequent quarters.
