Ather Energy has rolled out a Battery as a Service (BaaS) model, where customers can purchase scooters without the battery cost, as per a recent exchange filing. The Ather Rizta under this scheme is priced from ₹75,999, and the Ather 450 Series from ₹84,341 (ex-showroom, Lucknow).
Battery usage is billed separately, starting at ₹1 per kilometre on a 48-month plan with a minimum of 1,000 kilometres per month.
Through BaaS, the initial scooter price comes down by around 30% compared with traditional purchase models. As per the reports, the company has also tied up with banks and non-banking financial institutions for flexible payment structures. Customers opting for BaaS will additionally get a year of free fast charging access at over 3,300 charging points across India.
Ather has widened its Assured Buyback programme, earlier tested on a pilot basis. The plan offers customers up to 60% of the scooter’s value after 3 years and 50% after 4 years, depending on usage. The programme is aimed at providing visibility on resale value, which remains a common concern in the electric vehicle market.
The company has also introduced an Extended Comprehensive Warranty (ECW). It covers the battery and 11 other critical components, including the motor, motor controller, dashboard, and charger. The coverage is valid for five years or 60,000 kilometres, whichever comes first, and is available to AtherStack™ Pro customers.

The 3 measures, BaaS, Assured Buyback, and ECW, are intended to address the main factors that affect the adoption of electric scooters: high upfront purchase price, resale uncertainty, and long-term maintenance concerns. Together, these initiatives are structured to make ownership costs more predictable for individuals as well as fleet buyers.
As of August 18, 2025, 9:25 AM, Ather Energy share price was trading at ₹420, a 0.85% increase from the previous close price.
By combining a subscription-based battery model, buyback assurance, and extended warranty coverage, Ather Energy has moved to lower entry barriers for electric two-wheelers in India.
