Amazon India has broadened the reach of its grocery arm, Amazon Fresh, rolling out services to more than 270 cities as part of the Great Indian Festival, as per the news reports. The expansion reflects the platform’s sharpened focus on daily essentials, including fresh produce, dairy, groceries, and regional favourites, particularly in India’s tier-2 and tier-3 markets.
New cities on the Amazon Fresh map include Gorakhpur, Dehradun, and Jalandhar in the North, Coimbatore, Warangal, and Tirupati in the South, and Jamshedpur and Asansol in the East. Customers in these cities now have access to over 40,000 products, a tenfold increase since 2023, covering staples, fresh foods, and more than 3,000 region-specific items, from Rajdhani atta to GRB sweets.
Shoppers can choose from two-hour delivery slots, meeting rising demand for convenient, fast, and localised access to groceries. “Amazon Fresh has grown 4.5 times in reach and 10 times in selection in just two years, transforming how families across India shop for groceries online,” said Srikant Sree Ram, Director, Amazon Fresh India, as per the news reports. He credited the surge to a wider seller base, expanded city presence, and Amazon’s advanced delivery systems.
The service has also strengthened its back-end network by building farm-to-doorstep connections with more than 13,000 farmers across India, ensuring a steady flow of fresh produce to customers. Sellers have been integral to this journey, including More Retail Limited (MRL), which has adapted over 370 of its physical stores to cater to Amazon Fresh customers.
