On Friday, the benchmark indices were trading lower with Sensex down around 191 points or 0.30% at 63,048.42 and the Nifty trading down by 76 points or 0.40% at 18,696.45. About 940 shares have advanced, 2,042 declined, and 117 are unchanged on the BSE.
The top Sensex gainers were Bharti Airtel Ltd, NTPC Ltd and Asian Paints Ltd whereas the top Sensex losers were Tata Motors Ltd, Power Grip Corporation of India and Tech Mahindra Ltd.
The BSE Realty Index was the top gaining among the sectorial indices and BSE Consumer Durables Index was the top losing sector. The BSE Realty Index soared 0.05%, led by Macrotech Developers Ltd and The Phoenix Mills Ltd while the BSE Consumer Durables Index was down 1.15% dragged down by Voltas Ltd and Rajesh Exports Ltd.
The indices in the broader markets were trading in the red, with the BSE Mid-cap index down 0.75% and the BSE Small-cap index down 0.88%, respectively. The top mid-cap gainers were Tube Investments of India Ltd and 3M India Ltd while the top small-cap gainers were Antony Waste Handling Cell Ltd and DMCC Specialty Chemicals Ltd.
