According to news reports, on May 13, 2025, Air India and IndiGo, two of India's leading airlines, announced the cancellation of several flights to and from key cities in northern India. This decision follows the Airports Authority of India's (AAI) move to reopen 32 airports after being temporarily shut due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor.

These cancellations were made to mitigate any risks posed by the volatile geopolitical situation.
In a statement shared via social media, IndiGo reassured passengers, stating that the cancellations were made with their safety as the top priority. The airline urged passengers to check the status of their flights through its website or mobile app before arriving at the airport.
Similarly, Air India communicated through social media, stating that flights to and from the affected cities were cancelled in light of the ongoing situation and emphasising their commitment to passenger safety. The airline promised to provide updates as necessary.
Although the cancellations have caused travel disruptions, both airlines are prioritising the safety of their passengers. The airlines advised all affected passengers to stay informed about their flight status and encouraged them to reach out for any required assistance.

Despite the cancellations, IndiGo’s share price showed a slight rise, increasing by 0.40% as of 10:44 AM.
