India’s IPO fundraising activity has reached an all-time high of ₹1.77 trillion by December 8, 2025, indicating strong investor interest despite subdued secondary market returns.
The participation from both retail and institutional investors continues to support the robust primary market trend.
Initial public offerings in India have collectively raised ₹1.77 trillion ($19.6 billion), breaking the previous record of ₹1.73 trillion achieved in 2024. This was achieved even as over 300 companies entered the market this year. Upcoming deals, including a ₹10,000 crore offering by ICICI Prudential Asset Management Co., are expected to contribute further by mid-December.
The growth has been driven by increasing retail investor participation and consistent institutional interest in new listings. Capital market reforms and smoother listing procedures have further contributed to this momentum.
Despite the strong fundraising data, nearly 50% of the newly listed firms are trading below their offer prices. Companies such as Tata Capital Ltd., JSW Cement Ltd., and WeWork India Management Ltd. are among those underperforming post debut.
The IPO pipeline consists of companies from industries ranging from financial services to infrastructure and technology. Foreign institutional investors remain active participants in these offerings, especially due to stable policy conditions and economic growth expectations.
