Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) is reducing prices on several popular products, including Dove shampoo, Kissan Jam, Horlicks, Lux, and Lifebuoy soaps, effective September 22, 2025, following the government's GST reforms.
With the GST reforms coming into effect on September 22, HUL has announced price cuts on key consumer products. The move follows the government’s directive to pass on GST reductions to customers. Manufacturers are allowed to revise the MRP on unsold stock until December 31, 2025.
HUL communicated the revised rates through newspaper advertisements, informing dealers and authorities, in line with government guidelines.
Product | Pack Size | Old MRP (₹) | New MRP (₹) | Price Cut (₹) |
Dove Shampoo | 340 ml | 490 | 435 | 55 |
Kissan Jam | 200 gm | 90 | 80 | 10 |
Horlicks | 200 gm | 130 | 110 | 20 |
Lifebuoy Soap | 75*4 gm | 68 | 60 | 8 |
Note: The above table is as per Mint report. HUL may also dispatch fresh stock with revised MRP or higher grammage packs to comply with new regulations.
On September 3, the GST Council, chaired by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, announced a simplified tax structure:
Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi stated on X, “As per the new GST rates, manufacturers, packers, and importers can revise the MRP on unsold stock until December 31, 2025, or until stock lasts.”

HUL’s price cuts make popular products like Dove, Kissan Jam, Horlicks, Lux, and Lifebuoy soaps more affordable for consumers, reflecting a timely pass-through of GST benefits. Customers can expect revised prices both on fresh stock and unsold inventory until the end of 2025.
