Hero MotoCorp has taken a transformative step in India’s electric mobility landscape by introducing a pioneering Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model for its VIDA VX2 electric two-wheeler. The initiative aims to make electric vehicle (EV) ownership more flexible and cost-effective, aligning with the company’s broader vision of promoting inclusive and future-ready mobility solutions.
Starting July 1, 2025, Hero MotoCorp’s VIDA brand will offer a subscription-based BaaS model, a significant departure from the traditional EV ownership format. Customers can now separate the purchase of the scooter chassis and battery, thereby reducing the high upfront cost associated with electric vehicles. The BaaS model includes flexible monthly subscription plans based on individual usage and budget.
With this model, customers gain access to a flexible ‘pay-as-you-go’ system, allowing them to spread capital expenditure across manageable instalments. This shift is expected to make electric mobility more accessible to a wider section of Indian consumers, thus accelerating EV adoption.
In addition to financial flexibility, VIDA is enhancing the EV experience by supporting this new model with an expansive infrastructure network. Customers will benefit from over 3,600 fast-charging stations and more than 500 service points across 100+ cities in India. This widespread network is aimed at offering greater convenience and peace of mind to EV owners.
A company spokesperson stated that the new model will empower VIDA customers with “greater choice, improved cost efficiency, and access to VIDA’s growing, robust pan-India ecosystem,” all while “removing conventional barriers” to EV ownership.

Hero MotoCorp’s latest move with the VIDA VX2 signals a strong push towards democratising electric mobility in India. The BaaS model, combined with an extensive charging and service network, is expected to make EV ownership more practical, economical, and appealing. The company will reveal full details of the subscription plans and pricing on July 1, 2025.
