In a major digital security breach, a hacker exploited a vulnerability in the Aditya Birla Capital Digital (ABCD) app to sell digital gold worth ₹1.95 crore from 435 customer accounts. The company has since restored user holdings and implemented new security measures.
The fraud surfaced after multiple users reported unauthorised sales of their digital gold assets. The breach, which affected customers in Mumbai’s Prabhadevi area, triggered a wave of complaints via the company's call centre and social media. The unauthorised transactions involved the illegal transfer and sale of assets on ABCD’s digital gold platform.
Aditya Birla Capital Digital lodged an FIR with the Central Region Cyber Police in Mumbai. Following this, the company took immediate steps to freeze fund transfers to the suspicious personal bank accounts used in the fraudulent activity. A thorough investigation was launched to identify and trace the perpetrators responsible for the breach.

However, the technical flaw that enabled the hack has now been rectified. Additionally, the affected digital gold holdings have been fully restored, ensuring no financial losses remain for the impacted customers.
