Uttar Pradesh farmers have a great chance to protect their Kharif crops under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). The last date to register for the 2025 Kharif season is July 31, 2025. This government scheme gives financial protection to farmers in case their crops are damaged due to weather, pests, or disease.
PMFBY is India’s largest crop insurance scheme. It was launched in 2016 to support farmers during tough times. Since 2016, more than 29.19 crore farmer applications have been submitted under PMFBY. So far, the government has paid out over ₹95,000 crore in claims, while farmers have paid only around ₹17,000 crore as their share of premiums. This shows how effective the scheme is in helping farmers recover from losses.

In return, farmers get coverage against losses from droughts, floods, pest attacks, and post-harvest damage.
