The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has issued a warning to all beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) Yojana, alerting them to the increasing spread of fake messages, misleading links, and fraudulent claims being circulated online and on social media platforms.
These deceptive messages often appear in the name of the PM-Kisan scheme and falsely promise extra benefits or request personal details, including bank account or Aadhaar information. Such practices may put farmers at risk of financial fraud or delayed benefit transfers.
The advisory highlights that several fake communications are circulating, including:
Engaging with such content can lead to loss of personal information, and in some cases, the non-receipt of actual entitlements.
Beneficiaries are strongly advised to:
Ignore unverified messages received via SMS, WhatsApp, or social media. Rely only on official sources for updates, such as the official website and the official social media handle.
The PM-Kisan scheme provides ₹6,000 annually to eligible landholding farmer families in three equal instalments of ₹2,000. These payments are transferred directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts, helping provide financial support for agricultural needs.
As per news reports, the 20th instalment of the PM-Kisan scheme is expected to be disbursed later this month, although the government has not announced an official date yet. The 19th instalment was credited on February 24, 2025, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bhagalpur, Bihar.
