The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced new measures to make it easier for Aadhaar cardholders to update their address details online through its official portal.
For now, only address updates can be done online, and the service will remain free of cost until July 14, 2026. Other demographic updates, such as name, date of birth, or biometric details (fingerprints, iris, or facial data) must still be completed in person at the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
UIDAI typically takes up to 30 days to verify and process the address update. Additionally, UIDAI has revised its fee structure for demographic and biometric updates, now ranging from ₹75 to ₹125, applicable at Aadhaar Seva Kendras.
The process can take up to 90 days. For delays, contact UIDAI on 1947 or email help@uidai.gov.in.
Visit the UIDAI website, go to “Aadhaar Update Status”, and enter your URN or Aadhaar number. Verification will be done via OTP.
No, PAN-Aadhaar linking is handled on the Income Tax Department’s website.
No, such updates require a visit to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra with valid documents.
