From next week, commuters driving on the Dwarka Expressway will no longer enjoy a toll-free journey, as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) enforces charges at the Bijwasan toll plaza. This change impacts a crucial 30 km stretch that connects Delhi and Gurgaon.
Private vehicle owners will need to pay up to ₹220 for a one-way journey and ₹330 for a return trip along the 30 km Dwarka Expressway. These charges apply to vehicles without a monthly local or FASTag annual pass.
The elevated toll fees account for expensive infrastructure like 22 km of flyovers and tunnels, calculated by converting the segment into a 150 km tollable length based on new toll norms.
An integrated tolling system ensures motorists entering at Bijwasan and exiting at Kherki Daula are charged once based on direction. If Bijwasan is entered first, the toll is paid there, and no additional fee is charged at Kherki Daula.
If Kherki Daula is accessed initially, commuters pay the adjusted difference at the Bijwasan toll plaza. This system eliminates the possibility of double tolling when travelling between Delhi and Gurgaon via the expressway.
To ease the cost burden for daily commuters, NHAI offers local monthly passes for residents within 20 km of the plaza, requiring monthly proof of residence. In addition, FASTag annual passes allow for unlimited travel and are accepted throughout the national highway toll network, helping ease traffic flow and reduce stoppage time at plazas.

Taxi and cab operators will incur increased operational expenses, with full toll costs applicable for every trip. This is expected to slightly impact passenger fares along the corridor. Drivers across ride-hailing platforms will see this addition influence pricing models.
As per the Ministry's recent update, the toll at Kherki Daula has risen from ₹80 to ₹95 for private cars. This price increase reflects added overpasses and improved road infrastructure, contributing to the overall hike in toll calculations under revised government guidelines.
The soon-to-be-imposed tolls on Dwarka Expressway will bring a new cost factor for regular commuters, particularly private motorists and commercial fleets. While it increases expenses, the upgraded infrastructure offers a faster and smoother commute between Delhi and Gurgaon. With multiple pass systems in place, regular users can mitigate frequent toll expenses.
