The Central government has cleared a major procurement plan worth over ₹15,000 crore to support farmers across four states. The initiative aims to strengthen price stability for key crops such as moong, urad, arhar, and soybean during the Kharif 2025-26 season.
The Agriculture Ministry has approved a total procurement value of ₹15,095.83 crore under various schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay SanraksHan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA) and the Price Deficiency Payment Scheme (PDPS).
The plan, approved by the Union Agriculture Minister, covers the states of Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh. Officials stated that the move is expected to benefit lakhs of farmers by offering price support and ensuring market stability.
In Telangana, the government has sanctioned the procurement of 4,430 tonnes of moong (green gram), representing 25% of the state’s total production, under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) at a cost of ₹38.44 crore. Additionally, a 100% procurement of urad (black gram) and 25% of soybean has been approved.
In Odisha, the government has approved the purchase of 18,470 tonnes of arhar (red gram), which accounts for 100% of the state’s production. The total cost for this procurement stands at ₹147.76 crore under PSS.
Maharashtra will see one of the largest allocations under this plan, with approvals for 33,000 tonnes of moong, 3,25,680 tonnes of urad, and 18,50,700 tonnes of soybean. The total cost for these procurements is estimated at ₹289.34 crore, ₹2,540.30 crore, and ₹9,860.53 crore, respectively.
In Madhya Pradesh, soybean procurement of 22,21,632 tonnes has been sanctioned under PDPS, amounting to ₹1,775.53 crore.
The government has emphasised that this large-scale procurement drive will help secure fair returns for farmers and protect them from price fluctuations. The initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to improve farm income and support agricultural sustainability in major producing states.
To ensure smooth implementation, the procurement of tur, urad, and masoor will be managed through the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and the National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India (NCCF).

Officials highlighted that the approval reinforces the Centre’s focus on farmer welfare, price support, and self-reliance in agricultural production. By ensuring guaranteed procurement and stable prices, the initiative is expected to contribute to rural economic growth and promote consistency in crop production during the upcoming Kharif season.
