On June 11, 2025, Cyient Foundation—the CSR arm of Cyient Ltd.—and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Amaravati. The agreement aims to set up a major innovation cluster in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri Nara Lokesh, the Minister for Human Resources Development, IT, and Electronics.
The partnership's primary goal is to empower colleges and universities around Visakhapatnam to become centres of innovation and entrepreneurship. This will be done by encouraging collaboration between students, teachers, startups, industry leaders, and investors.
The project will include setting up:
These centres will help both mentor and mentee institutions build a robust innovation ecosystem.
Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy, Founder Chairman of Cyient and Chief Patron of Cyient Foundation, said the initiative would help unlock India’s innovation potential. He emphasised the need to build entrepreneurial skills and boost IP creation through industry-academia partnerships.
The collaboration will also host innovation fairs, hackathons, mentoring sessions, and boot camps for students and faculty. These programs aim to prepare them for real-world challenges and encourage startup creation.
Andhra Pradesh already has a strong foundation for innovation with over 1,137 Institution Innovation Councils (IICs). Cities like Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, and Tirupati are seen as ideal locations to develop city-level innovation hubs.
The project has a three-year rollout plan. Cyient Foundation will provide infrastructure and funding through its CSR initiatives. It aligns with India’s "Atma Nirbhar Bharat" vision for innovation-driven self-reliance and economic growth.
Cyient Foundation focuses on social initiatives in education, digital literacy, health, and skill development. It partners with communities and governments to build sustainable change.
