Heavy rainfall has severely disrupted daily life and operations in Bengaluru, prompting major IT companies including Cognizant and Infosys to allow employees to work from home. The downpour has triggered widespread flooding, traffic closures, and civic alerts across the city, leading to growing safety concerns for commuters and officegoers.
As intense rainfall continues to flood Bengaluru, major IT employers have turned to remote work. Cognizant asked its 40,000 Bengaluru-based employees to work from home on May 20, while Infosys issued a company-wide advisory on May 21, allowing staff to work remotely in coordination with their managers. The shift is aimed at ensuring safety and minimising disruption to business operations.
Commuters heading to Electronic City, a hub for IT majors like Wipro, TCS, and Tech Mahindra, were advised to take alternate routes due to the closures.
