Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) announced on June 23, 2025, that its wholly owned subsidiary, Hooghly Cochin Shipyard Limited (Hooghly CSL), has received an order from Heritage River Journeys Private Limited. The contract involves the construction of 2 luxury river cruise vessels intended for operation on the Brahmaputra River. Heritage River Journeys operates under the brand Antara River Cruises.

Contract Details 

The agreement for the first vessel has been signed, while a Letter of Intent has been issued for the second. As per CSL’s internal classification, the order is categorised as “Notable,” indicating a value between ₹100 crore and ₹250 crore. No promoter group or related party is involved in this transaction.

Background of Antara River Cruises

Antara River Cruises currently operates river cruise services across major Indian waterways, including the Ganga, Padma, and Brahmaputra rivers. Its existing fleet includes vessels such as the Ganga Vilas, which has previously completed extended journeys covering over 3,200 kilometres and passing through 27 rivers.

Operations on the Brahmaputra

The vessels under this order are intended to operate on the Brahmaputra River and will be built under the Inland Vessels Rules, 2022. These would be the first luxury cruise ships of their kind constructed for this river system.

The signing of the contract took place in the presence of senior representatives from both companies. Sanil Peter, CEO of Hooghly CSL, and Raj Singh, Founder and Chairman of Antara River Cruises, formalised the agreement, alongside Madhu S. Nair, Chairman and Managing Director of CSL.

Cochin Shipyard Share Price Performance

As of 09:30 AM on June 24, 2025, Cochin Shipyard share price was trading at ₹2,178.10, a 2.38% decline, with a 52.02% increase over the past 6 months and a 4.16% increase over the past year.
