Capitalmind Asset Management Private Limited has submitted draft papers to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for the launch of its first mutual fund scheme, the Capitalmind Flexi Cap Fund. The scheme is structured as an open-ended equity fund investing across large-cap, mid-cap, and small-cap stocks.

Fund Details and Structure

The proposed scheme will offer units at ₹10 during the New Fund Offer (NFO) period. It will be available in two plans, Direct and Regular, with only the Growth option under each. The minimum investment during the NFO is ₹5,000 for lump sum and ₹1,000 for SIPs with at least 6 instalments.

The fund will re-open for ongoing sale and repurchase within 5 business days from the date of allotment. Redemption proceeds are expected to be dispatched within three business days.

Asset Allocation and Investment

The Fund Manager will invest between 65% to 100% of its assets in equity and equity-related instruments. Up to 35% may be allocated to debt and money market instruments, while investments in REITs and InvITs are capped at 10%. The scheme may also invest up to 5% in other mutual fund schemes and make use of equity derivatives, subject to regulatory limits.

Investment Approach

Capitalmind plans to follow a rule-based, quantitative investment model. The stock selection will consider multiple factors, including value, momentum, profitability, and low volatility. The scheme will also apply factor-timing mechanisms to adjust allocations based on prevailing market conditions.

The performance of the scheme will be benchmarked against the NIFTY 500 Total Return Index (TRI). The risk level for the scheme is classified as ‘Very High’.

Charges and Exit Load

There is no entry load. An exit load of 1% will apply if units are redeemed within 12 months of allotment. Redemptions after that period will not attract any exit load.

Conclusion

The Capitalmind Flexi Cap Fund is Capitalmind’s first mutual fund scheme and will follow SEBI’s regulatory framework for dynamic equity investments across market caps.
